OPENING:
January 28, 2010- New bridge in Kakanj

This is a great project, providing a vital link between three villages and the outside world.
Kakanj Municipality is a GAP second cohort municipality that initially in the year of 2006 acknowledged CIP methodology advantages and with GAP’s assistance successfully adopted first CIP methodology on 25 June 2006.   Since then, CIP was being updated every year.  In May of 2009 Kakanj Municipal Assembly adopted an updated Capital Improvement Planning (CIP) 2009-2013 from which three capital projects have been selected for co-financing in GAP phase 2.
One of the three projects mentioned above is a “Building of a Krsevac Bridge”.  It is important to note that a former bridge was in extremely poor condition in terms of its abutment load-bearing capacity and superstructure –a wooden deck which was most certainly unstable and capable of collapsing and cutting around 3,000 users at any time.  Therefore, tearing down of the old deteriorated Krsevac Bridge and building of a new concrete bridge was of a tremendous importance for the safety of all citizens as well as for the economic development of the region.
Total value of the project is 98,349.94KMs, out of which GAPs and municipal cost share ratio throughout the implementation remained at 50%,  both GAP and municipality participating with 49,174.97KMs.
