Another joint success of GAP and partner municipality
Plan for attracting investments made by Vukosavlje through cooperation with GAP

Vukosavlje municipality was established under the Dayton Peace Accord. The newly formed municipality is mainly inhabited by the returnees. According to the mayor, Amir Zahirović, municipal administration has been left on its own, without knowledge or experience in administration and no money for education and advancement. That is why the municipality constantly emphasizes the special merit GAP project had for the survival of the municipality and creating conditions for sustainability.

Having in mind that Vukosavlje belongs to the first cohort municipalities with which GAP cooperates over five years, there is long list of joint achievements. The first was the Citizen Service Center, than improvements in budget and finance management, creation of the Strategy for development, reform of  the process of issuing building permits, capital investment planning and as the last activity with GAP, the municipality has chosen creation of the “Plan for attracting investments” . The Municipality, which struggled for survival, has reached the stage when it can fight for investments and aggressively explore its potentials.

On February 11, 2010 the Municipality established a working group with the aim to prepare, together with GAP, the “Plan for attracting investments”, which includes the following activities:

The working group finalized its work successfully on May19th, 2010. The municipality sees its prosperity in the fact that it is close to major roads. It is located in the proximity of important road intersection called Jakesnica, the place where roads connecting Bosanski Samac and Odzak (only 4km away from Vukosavlje) with Croatian border cross with the road running to Doboj (42 km from crossing) and further to central Bosnia, and with the road that, through Derventa, runs to Banjaluka. Through Modrica, which is only 2 km away, Vukosavlje is connected with Gradacac and Tuzla.

Moreover, 5C corridor also passes through its territory, so the Municipality has recognized potentials for development in near future. Recognized potentials for investments are in the exploitation of limestone deposits /quarries for the production of slaked lime and quartz sand, in the villages of Pecnik and Gnionica. Apart from mineral resources, there are potentials for investments in grain milling and processing, construction and wood processing industry. Investment locations include available public construction land in municipal ownership and the Public Center („Dom“) that is not in use in full capacity.
Municipal Mayor also firmly believes that the municipality of Vukosavlje can achieve all these goals with assistance of children, youth and educated population of their community.
