Travnik Municipality
Completion of three capital projects
Travnik Municipality and GAP have successfully completed another group of joint projects selected in the participatory procedure by citizens of Travnik Municipality
Ceremonial opening of the three projects is scheduled for June 23, 2010
Projects “Asphalt pavement of Babanovac roads“, “Asphalt paving of Mehurici roads” and “Asphalt paving of the Ante Vlaica streets” have been successfully completed in joint efforts of Travnik Municipality and USAID/Sida/EKN GAP 2.
Travnik is a GAP second cohort municipality that initially adopted Community Development Planning Committee in order to collect local priority project proposals. After acknowledging CIP methodology advantages, with GAP's assistance, Travnik successfully switched from CDPC methodology to GAP CIP, long term capital planning methodology on 22 February 2007. CIP CT has 13 members, with Mayor being the Chair of the CT.
During the public campaign in 2008 (process of the CIP for 2009-2011), Travnik has collected 315 project proposals for a three-year Program. Out of 315 projects, 60% were proposed by municipal administration, while the rest were proposed by citizens, local communities, NGOs, citizen’s associations, local institutions, businesses, and similar. All projects received were scored by CIP CT members in accordance with the already adopted criteria and priority lists were prepared. Proposed CIP for 2009-2011 was adopted by Travnik Municipal Council on June 18, 2010.
At one of its meeting sessions, CIP CT has selected “Asphalt pavement of Babanovac roads”, “Asphalt paving of Mehurici roads” and “Asphalt paving of the Ante Vlaica streets”  as the top priorities to be proposed to GAP for co-financing. Total costs of the proposed projects were KM 260,000.00, with GAP's cost share being 48% and Municipality’s 52% of the total projects costs.
Completion of the proposed project “Asphalt pavement of Babanovac roads” ensured better transport and communication for 214 citizens of the local community Sisava and numerous tourists visiting Vlasic ski resort area throughout the year, especially during winter season.
Completion of the proposed project “Asphalt paving of Mehurici roads” improved the life quality of all citizens, ensuring safer traffic and improving environmental conditions for all citizens of this local community.
Completion of the last proposed project “Asphalt paving of the Ante Vlaica streets” like the previous two projects improved and ensured safer traffic for all citizens, especially vulnerable groups, such as the hospital patients visiting the Hospital located in this street, who due to the previous poor road conditions, had to use bypass route to the Hospital which made their trip almost twice as long.
During the GAP Phase 1, Travnik has implemented four capital projects with GAP's assistance.
